Monica Millard started her career in lighting design, working with a retailer that worked exclusively with new home builders, helping buyers choose lighting for their new homes. There she discovered a passion for the real estate market. After a few years, she became a sales agent, transitioned to appraising, and earned her license as a Certified Residential Real Estate Appraiser. She also utilized her knowledge of real estate and interior design skills to consult with homeowners and developers on property improvements to maximize their values and return on investments.

Although real estate was a fulfilling career, Monica missed being a part of the building and remodeling business and stretching her creative skills. She decided to take a position in a Greater Cincinnati cabinetry showroom as the lead kitchen and bath designer. She worked closely with architects, custom home builders, and tradespeople on new construction and remodeling projects, making selections in cabinetry and fixtures, appliances, and interior and exterior finishes. Through this experience, Monica was able to become a Certified Kitchen and Bath Designer through the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA).

 
An opportunity arose to relocate to the greater Charlotte area. Monica leveraged her industry-specific knowledge in customer relations and software applications to obtain a position as a manufacturer representative for several cabinetry companies, representing all facets of the cabinet market. She worked with retailers, designers, and builders from the Western Carolinas down to the South Carolina coast with their cabinetry needs.

With the desire to work with homeowners again, Monica decided to take the reigns of her career and founded Dogwood Designs and Cabinetry in early 2021, headquartered in Fort Mill, SC. She works with homeowners, builders, and designers to provide quality designs, cabinetry, countertop solutions, and decorative hardware, hoping to make her clients' dreams a reality.
